Yandel began his professional career in 1998 and from that moment became a phenomenally successful singer, songwriter, musician, and music producer of the Puerto Rican urban genre. In 2014, he took a new turn as a solo artist by announcing his sold-out Yandel Layenda VIP Tour at major venues in New York, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Orlando, and Latin America. His solo album De Líder a Leyenda (2013) debuted at # 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums and # 9 on the “Top Urban Album Chart.” From Leader to Legend, he received Gold Certification from the RIAA and earned several nominations, including the Latin Grammy. In October 2014, Yandel became the first artist of his genre to record a television special for the well-known HBO Latino TV network. He also recorded the song, Marcando Territorio, included in “Catch the Throne”: El Mixtape Vol. 2, and the soundtrack of the acclaimed HBO series “Games of Thrones” with great artists from the Anglo-Saxon market. His album “Dangerous” (2015) dominated the sales charts and achieved a # 1 in the week of its release. This production received: Latin Grammy, Latin American Music Award, Premios Lo Nuestro and nominations for the Billboard Latin Music Awards. That same month, the singer / producer became the first Latino artist to broadcast a live concert in the HBO-produced boxing match Cotto vs. Canelo. Some of his musical collaborations in the general and Hispanic market include: J-Lo, Akon, R. Kelly, 50 Cent, Ja Rule, Eve, Nelly Furtado, Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias, Don Omar, Daddy Yankee, J Balvin, Chayanne, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Maluma, Ozuna, Bad Bunny, Becky G, Lele Pons, Romeo Santos, Sebastian Yatra, Manuel Turizo, Luis Fonsi, J Balvin, Zion & Lennox, and many more. Among his recognitions he has: two Latin Grammy Awards in 2016 in the categories of Best Urban Fusion and Best Urban Song, Latin American Music Award Album of the Year, and BMI Awards. In 2018, Yandel announced a tour with his great friend and collaborator in music Wisin. The duo made history in 2018, they became the first artists of their genre with the highest number of shows sold at the José M. Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. As a solo artist, Yandel has achieved 10 # 1’s on Billboard’s Top Latin Airplay chart. In 2018 he recorded with Wisin his album as a duo Los Campeones del Pueblo / The Big Leagues.
